Eating Disorder
MEANING
Eating Disorder tends to impair health, emotional being and social functioning. There are mainly three eating disorders namely, Binge Eating Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa, and Anorexia Nervosa.
TYPES
BINGE EATING DISORDER
It is characterized by episodes of binge eating. It is accompanied by consumption of large amount of food without having a control and even if they aren't hungry.
BULIMIA NERVOSA
It is binge eating with compensatory behaviors like vomiting, fasting, excessive exercise etc. These people have fear of weight gain and so do unusual behavior such as forcing to vomit, exercising too much, using dietary supplements etc.
ANOREXIA NERVOSA
It is characterized by taking restricted amount of food which is less than the amount required to the body. People have fear of weight gain, dissatisfied body image.
TREATMENT
Patients can consult a psychiatrist or a psychologist.
